Cloudy with a chance of meatballs was created in 2009 by Sony pictures animation and Columbia pictures. Its box office totaled a massive 243 million USD. Flint Lockwood is a young inventor in what was once named Swallow falls. He invents a machine called the FLDSMDFR which turns water into food. The machine goes out of control when too much food is being ordered from it and it rains massive amounts of food. Flint and is friends have to stop the machine before its too late. They end up making it out alive but the town is destroyed.
The characters in this movie have very exaggerated body features. For example, Flint Lockwood. He is extremely thin and has a massive nose that goes up and down his entire face.
Another example is the mayor. He used to be a short stubby little man, but as he started eating a hell of a lot of food he got really large. This is an example of the exaggeration. He is too fat to walk so he needs a mobility scooter. I think the artist made the mobility scooter really small to give the impression that he is abnormally large.
The music in this film is really quite amazing. It has a lot of dramatic music, which while your watching is really cool but I don't think anyone would listen to the songs outside of the movie. The songs are relatively basic, a few synth strings sounding things but it adds a hell of a lot of effect. The songs are also very repetitive in the way that they follow the same kind of chord progression. I think that writing songs for movies is a lot easier because you don't have to add as many layers to make it as interesting as other songs that weren't made for movies. I think this is because when your watching the movie you concentrating on the pictures rather than the music alone. Normally there are also sound effects and voice overs while the song is playing so it kind of takes away that need for more sounds from the song. Although the sand track is really good I personally dont like listening to soundtracks because they are a bit too basic and boring. In saying that there is one soundtrack that I really like and that is Nemo eggs from Finding Nemo.
